In a shocking turn of events in Ondo, a middle-aged woman, Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon, is now a fugitive, accused of fatally assaulting her husband, Mr. Felix Solomon.
The incident occurred in the Government Reserved Area of Ondo town, where Tayelolu allegedly struck her 67-year-old husband with a pestle while he slept.
The couple had been embroiled in a lingering crisis, and this tragic episode unfolded following a heated argument earlier in the day. Ibukun Solomon, the son of the deceased, was an eyewitness to the horrifying incident.
He recounted, “My mother killed my father with a pestle in my presence and took to her heels. She used the pestle to hit his head when he was asleep.”
After the argument, Mr. Solomon retired to a chair to rest, and that’s when the deadly assault occurred. “He became unconscious in the process and fell down from where he was sleeping. My mother used the pestle to hit my father’s head three times, and he later died,” Ibukun stated.
Distressed by the situation, Ibukun sought help from neighbors, who rushed his father to the hospital.
Unfortunately, Mr. Solomon succumbed to his injuries, and his body now rests in the morgue.
Ibukun is the youngest of the three children born to the couple.
Confirming the incident, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relation Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the suspect.
She revealed, “The incident happened last week when the couple had a fight, but the suspect is currently at large. We are already on her trail.”
This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and the authorities are determined to bring Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon to justice for her alleged involvement in her husband’s untimely death.
