A jovial celebration in the Halleluyah Quarter of Ibafo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State has  turned into a scene of horror as a disagreement at a birthday party led to the fatal stabbing of a man identified only as Abubakar.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the tragic incident unfolded on Friday night during the festivities organized by Nafiu Yusuf to mark his daughter’s first birthday.

Eyewitnesses recounted the chilling altercation that escalated into violence, resulting in the untimely death of Abubakar.

According to reports, tension had been simmering between Abubakar and another attendee, identified as Anuoluwapo, culminating in a fatal confrontation.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that  this was not the first altercation between the two, as they had previously engaged in a similar dispute just a week prior to the fatal incident.

Outside the police station where the suspects were detained, a crowd had gathered, comprising distressed relatives, friends, and concerned members of the community.

The anguish was palpable as women, including the deceased’s wife, mourned the tragic loss of life.

An anonymous eyewitness, fearing interrogation, provided insight into the events leading up to the fatal stabbing, highlighting the trivial nature of the initial dispute.

Expressing regret over the senseless loss of life, the eyewitness underscored the gravity of the situation and its devastating impact on the deceased’s loved ones.

Confirming the incident, Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, described it as a suspected case of murder.

She revealed that upon receiving a distress call from Glory Hospital, officers rushed to the scene and apprehended three suspects.

Investigations revealed that the altercation arose during a confrontation between Dada Sulaiman and another individual, ultimately resulting in Abubakar’s tragic demise.

Odutola attributed the incident to alcohol in exacerbating conflicts, urging individuals to exercise restraint and moderation.

She stressed the importance of responsible alcohol consumption and effective anger management in preventing similar incidents in the future.
