Troops of the Nigerian Army have captured a suspected female kidnappers’ informant in Taraba State.

Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Jalingo, explained that the suspect was arrested on 6th September 2024 by the troops at Sondi village in Wukari LGA of the state.

According to him, the suspect, identified as Miss Markus Grace, is said to be a girlfriend to a notorious kidnapper named ‘Chen’ who was reported to be terrorising residents of the area.

The suspect is currently in custody and undergoing further investigation to reveal the extent of her involvement in various criminal activities.

The Army spokesman added, “The troops intercepted a Toyota Yaris vehicle with registration number, Taraba KLD 652 XA, that was carrying an AK-47 rifle and an AK-47 magazine.”

He explained that two Identity Cards of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, were also recovered from the vehicle.

He explained that while on routine stop and search patrol in Bantaje town of Wukari LGA on 5th September, 2024, the troops flagged down a blue Toyota Yaris vehicle coming from Wukari and heading towards Jalingo.

Oni further stated that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes when the car was stopped for a search.

When a thorough search of the abandoned vehicle was conducted, Oni stated that the guns and the NURTW Identity Cards bearing the names of Isa Ibrahim and Mallam Isa Garin Tukura, all of Gassol LGA, were discovered.

He said investigation is still in progress to ascertain the involvement of the individuals with the identity cards.
