Troops of the 1 Brigade under Operation Fansan Yanma have arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Shamsiyya Ahadu, alleged to be a logistics supplier for terrorist groups operating in Zamfara State.
Ahadu was apprehended following intelligence reports on his movements, according to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region.
Acting on the tip-off, troops mounted a snap checkpoint along the Kware-Badarawa road in the Shinkafi Local Government Area, where Ahadu was intercepted.
During the search, the suspect was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six magazines, and a talisman, locally known as laya, believed to be used for protection during criminal operations.
Alongside Ahadu, a motorcycle rider identified as Ahmed Husaini was also detained.
In a related operation, the troops reportedly killed several terrorists, including a notorious kingpin known as Ma’oli.
The operation occurred on December 26 in Maisheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town in Tsafe Local Government Area.
Military authorities have reiterated their commitment to sustaining the onslaught against terrorism in Zamfara and other affected states, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in providing actionable intelligence.
Zamfara State has remained a hotspot for terror activities, with security forces intensifying efforts to disrupt criminal networks and restore peace to the region.
