Troops operating in the North-West zone have successfully eliminated four bandits, including the notorious Dongon Bangaje, during intense fighting patrols in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The operation, spearheaded by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, saw troops conducting special fighting patrols over the weekend at Tumburku village and Sabon Sara, both located in Giwa LGA.
Acting on credible intelligence, the troops spotted bandits fleeing Sabon Sara and immediately engaged them in a hot pursuit.
In the ensuing confrontation, two bandits were swiftly neutralized.
Among the items recovered from the scene were a motorcycle, a mobile phone, gas lighters, tobacco, assorted charms, and a polythene bag containing petrol.
In a parallel operation at Basurfe village, southwest of Kindandan, troops encountered an ambush set up by the bandits.
Undeterred, they fought through the ambush, neutralizing two more bandits and dismantling a camp used as a treatment area for insurgents.
The recoveries from the Basurfe operation were substantial, including two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action rifle, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), two radios, and one motorcycle.
Additionally, various contraband items such as cigarettes, drugs, and medical accessories were seized.Of particular significance is the elimination of Dogo Bangaje, a notorious bandit leader, and his unidentified close associate.
Their removal from the criminal landscape marks a significant victory in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Kaduna State.
Commenting on the operations, Commissioner Aruwan commended the troops for their bravery and dedication to duty.
He emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies in their quest to rid the state of criminal elements.
The successful operations underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-driven tactics employed by security forces in combating banditry and other forms of criminality in Kaduna State.
