At least three bandits were killed in the Teng community of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Disclosing this development on Tuesday in Jos, the spokesman of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major Samson Zhakom, said troops from OPSH and 3 Division intercepted and killed the bandits in a nearby bush.

Major Zhakom revealed that four AK-47 rifles and ammunition were recovered from the slain bandits, adding that the seized weapons are currently in the custody of the troops.

He noted that the bandits were heading to attack the Teng and Kayarda communities.

Narrating the incident, Major Zhakom said, “On 27 May 2025, armed militia en route to attack villages on the Plateau were ambushed and neutralised by troops of 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN. This followed credible intelligence indicating plans by bandits to attack Teng and Kayarda villages in Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State in the early hours of  May 27, 2025.

“During the operation, troops in ambush positions engaged the bandits, killing three, while others fled. Troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. The recovered weapons are in custody, and efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals and recover additional arms.”
