Men of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested two female suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah for child trafficking.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the suspects were nabbed on Saturday while making attempt to traffick five children into the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
Adeh said, “The operatives of the FCT police command, on April 27, 2024, at about 8:00 p.m., arrested two female suspects, Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah, in connection with the trafficking of five children.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the suspects had escaped arrest from Sokoto police operatives but, were intercepted and arrested by FCT police operatives at Kagini junction, Abuja, while suspiciously conveying five children into the Federal Capital Territory.
“The FCT police command, in the spirit of oneness, have now handed the suspects and victims over to the Sokoto state police command for further investigation and onward prosecution.”
Recall that Abuja has been experiencing a surge in kidnapping and bandit attacks lately.
In January 2024, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, neutralised three notorious bandits in a forest within the Bwari area of Abuja.
Within the same month, a kidnap kingpin identified as Janari, who was said to have masterminded several kidnappings within Kaduna State and Abuja, alongside some of his foot soldiers were killed during operations conducted by the air component of Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna state.
Also in February, Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested a pastor, Simon Kado; his relative, Jesse Simon-Kado, and their driver, Muhammad Isah, for trafficking 12 underaged children – eight girls and four boys aged between five to 16 years, from Nasarawa State to Ogun State.
