    U-17 WWC: Afolabi named POTM in Nigeria’s win over New Zealand

    Flamingos captain, Taiwo Afolabi scooped the Player of the Match prize following the team’s 4-1 win over New Zealand on Wednesday night.

    The playmaker bossed the midfield in the encounter.

    Afolabi scored Nigeria’s fourth goal of the game 10 minutes after the break.

    Shakirat Moshood, Khadijat Adegoke and Faridat Abdulwahab were the other goal scorers for Nigeria in the game.




    Hannah Saxon scored the consolation goal for New Zealand.

    Ecuador defeated hosts Dominican Republic 2-0 in the other group game.

    The Flamingos will face Ecuador in their next game at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Saturday.
