Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced key changes to his cabinet, including the appointment of Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo as the new Commissioner of Education and Barrister Gloria Ibrahim as Commissioner for Youth Development.

The Governor also redeployed the outgoing Education Commissioner, Prof. Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), to head the newly established Ministry of Information.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa, the appointments and redeployment take immediate effect.

Prof. Abubakar Sambo, a seasoned academic and energy expert, brings a wealth of experience to the Ministry of Education. A recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit (1997) and Officer of the Order of the Niger (2000), Prof. Sambo previously served as Vice Chancellor of both Kaduna State and Bauchi State Universities, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (2005–2012), and Special Adviser to the President on Energy in 2011.

Governor Uba Sani expressed confidence in Sambo’s ability to reposition the education sector, emphasizing priorities such as increased access, infrastructure rehabilitation, teacher training, ICT integration, girl-child education, and school security.

In the same vein, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim, a respected legal practitioner and mediator, has been appointed Commissioner of Youth Development. Ibrahim is a Principal Legal Practitioner at Glownom Legal Consult and holds an LL.B from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is affiliated with professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

The Governor urged her to implement innovative programmes that empower Kaduna’s youth to thrive in a technologically evolving society.

He also congratulated the new commissioners on their appointments and wished them divine guidance in their new roles.
