The United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated the sixth anniversary of Leo, its artificial intelligent digital assistant and Chatbot.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to advancing digital banking in Nigeria through Leo’s transformative capabilities

Launched on January 11, 2018, Leo has evolved into a groundbreaking assistant that has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian and African financial industry, setting a standard for quick transactions and efficient customer responses.

UBA, as the pioneer in introducing a digital solution for enhanced customer transactions in Africa, has promised to expand Leo’s services further.

The bank has invested in cutting-edge technology to deepen customer experiences on Instagram and Google Business, claiming a unique position in these digital terrains.

Olukayode Olubiyi, the Head of Digital Banking at UBA, emphasized that Leo stands as one of the bank’s most significant investments in cutting-edge technology.

He stated, “Six years later, and with over seven million customers, UBA’s Leo has without a doubt remained unequalled as the smartest Banking Chatbot in Nigeria because of its speed and quick learning intelligence.”

While some financial institutions are still navigating the field of Artificial Intelligence, UBA boasts Leo’s massive success, consistently winning awards and accolades for its unparalleled qualities and effectiveness.

Highlighting Leo’s achievements over the past six years, Olubiyi pointed out its role in enhancing the digital customer experience in banking. Leo provides 24/7 availability, assisting customers with common financial queries.

The AI Bot’s activities have expanded across UBA’s operations in 20 African countries, earning recognition through numerous awards globally.

Olubiyi affirmed, “With this in mind, we have ensured that Leo continues to enjoy periodic and systematic upgrades with special emphasis on enhanced advancements and specialized unique features where necessary.”
