In a decisive move, the University of Ilorin has expelled nine students found guilty of engaging in examination malpractices.
The decision was officially communicated through a statement issued by Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Director of Information of the University.
The expulsion received the formal approval of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole SAN, who endorsed the disciplinary actions based on the recommendations put forth by the Students Disciplinary Committee.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the committee arrived at this conclusion during its 219th meeting held on January 10 and 11, 2024.
The affected students, whose academic journey has come to an abrupt end, include Lateef Lukman Olayemi (Agriculture/Aquaculture and Fisheries, 500 Level), Kuranga Abdulmuiz Olalekan (Agriculture/Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, 500 Level), Adebisi Janet Bosede (Arts/Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, 100 Level), and Ogundijo Abdulmalik Akinkunmi (CIS/Library and Information Science, 500 Level).
Furthermore, those facing expulsion also encompass Ashekun Oladiji Quadri (CIS/Telecommunication Science, 400 Level), Eqwudah Lucky Ojonumba (Education/Adult and Primary Education Studies, 300 Level), and Musa Mohammed Asuku (Engr and Tech/Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 500 Level).
Completing the list of dismissed students are Ahmed Saddam Opeyemi (Engr and Tech/Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, 500 Level) and Ayinla Jamiu Olaitan (Life Science/Zoology, 400 Level).
This stern action by the University serves as a clear message against academic misconduct, reinforcing its commitment to upholding integrity and maintaining high academic standards
