UTME Glitches: MSSN Hails JAMB’s Transparency, Warns Saboteurs

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has commended the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for its swift and transparent handling of the technical glitches that marred the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing the board’s response as a model for public accountability.

In a statement signed by its National President, Engr. Tajudeen Mustapha Olumide, the MSSN applauded the decision of JAMB, led by Professor Is-haq Oloyede, to conduct an independent technical review and reschedule exams for 379,997 affected candidates.

The group noted that while JAMB’s prompt acknowledgment of the disruption and rescheduling efforts were laudable, the incident raised serious concerns about the integrity of some examination centres and the possible involvement of saboteurs.

“MSSN expresses deep concern over the technical challenges that disrupted the examination in 157 centres nationwide.

This regrettable incident suggests the potential involvement of unscrupulous elements seeking to undermine an otherwise commendable system,” the statement read.

The group called on JAMB to blacklist centres that failed to meet operational standards, urging the board to strengthen technical safeguards and student support systems to prevent a recurrence.

MSSN also praised Prof. Oloyede’s leadership, noting that his reforms had significantly curbed examination malpractice and restored credibility to the UTME over the years.

“We laud Professor Oloyede for his humility, courage, and transparency in addressing the situation. His proactive stance continues to set a high standard for leadership in Nigeria’s education sector,” the Society said.

The organisation issued a strong warning to “fifth columnists and admission racketeers” whose illegal operations have been dismantled by JAMB’s reforms, accusing them of orchestrating smear campaigns to destabilise the board’s progress.

“These desperate actors must understand that Nigerians are now more enlightened and will no longer fall for their antics,” the group warned.

The MSSN also thanked Nigerians who have stood by JAMB and its leadership during the period of the crisis, saying such support sends a powerful message that accountability and reform-minded leadership will always have public backing.

“We reaffirm our support for JAMB’s commitment to merit, integrity, and innovation in Nigeria’s examination and admission processes,” the statement concluded.
