VeryDarkMan Apologises To Falana Over ‘Offensive, Derogatory Bribery Allegations’ Involving Bobrisky

Popular social media influencer, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has issued an “unreserved apology” to renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, over recent derogatory remarks suggesting Falana’s involvement in a bribery scandal tied to cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, alias Bobrisky, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Appearing before the Nigerian House of Representatives on Monday, Otse made it clear that he does not believe Falana had any part in the alleged bribery accusations that were initially raised in connection with Bobrisky.

“Apparently now, some people are taking advantage of what is going on to target Femi Falana,” VeryDarkMan stated.

“Here I apologise, it’s so sad that his name was inside that audio. I couldn’t believe it as well. That is the part that irritated me more, which is why I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

This apology comes on the heels of previous calls made by the influencer for a thorough investigation into the matter.

According to earlier reports, VeryDarkMan had demanded that officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) be scrutinised in the unfolding scandal.

However, Falana, through his legal team at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, swiftly refuted the allegations. In a letter dated September 25, 2024, and signed by Taiwo E. Olawanle, Esq.,

Falana denied ever speaking to Bobrisky or seeking any presidential pardon on his behalf. The lawyer categorically stated that the claims of bribery and attempts to divert justice were baseless and damaging to his reputation.

In an earlier Instagram post, VeryDarkMan had alleged that Falana requested a N10 million bribe in exchange for a presidential pardon for Bobrisky.

This accusation sparked widespread reactions, prompting Falana to take legal action, describing the allegations as defamatory and a direct attack on his integrity.

Reacting to the lawyer’s response, VeryDarkMan maintained his stance, claiming he had additional evidence concerning Bobrisky’s alleged voice note, in which the cross-dresser purportedly said he served his sentence in a private residence.
