Delta state commissioner for technical Colleges, Hon. Princess Shola Ogbemi Diablo has said the state government, under the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has set a pace for other states to take clues from in setting up technical Colleges in their respective states.
The Commissioner who spoke, in, a one-day sensitization workshop on “Book Development For Selected Technical College Teachers” in Asaba.
The commissioner noted that the sensitization becomes imperative to put together books that can be created for students to read, study and perform their works and duties in school.
She said the introduction of the technical Colleges in the state has been attracting other states which are already coming to understudy the capacity of our colleges, what we are doing and that they too can as well do it.
According to her,” some other states are already coming to understudy us in our technical Colleges, what we are doing, they too can come and buy and make books readily available for our students and their teachers”.
She added that,” if you look at Nigeria today, it is only in Delta state that technical Colleges are making waves; we see people withdrawing students from across the country coming to technical schools, this was the school that was looked down upon thinking it would fail”
“ Now, if you go to technical schools, you will be happy that your wards is attending the college. We are happy that we have set the pace for other states to follow, the Okowa’s administration has done absolutely well in introducing back technical education in our state and this bis what we need now as the world is going global”.
She, however, commended the participants and books publishers for their various contributions in ensuring books are readily available for students to read and study.
