In a bid to revolutionize the landscape of cooperative societies in Nigeria, Wema Bank has unveiled CoopHub, a groundbreaking digital solution tailored to address the myriad challenges faced by these communities.

The announcement was made during the bank’s 79th-anniversary celebration on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s commitment to innovation and customer-centricity.

CoopHub, described as the future of cooperative societies, is poised to transform the traditional framework by providing tailored solutions that alleviate common pain points such as manual recordkeeping, limited access to loans, poor communication, insecurity, and other operational restrictions.

Moruf Oseni, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, emphasized the strategic design of CoopHub to bridge existing gaps in the cooperative society ecosystem.

“Cooperative Societies have many pain points. As a bank that is committed to empowering lives through innovation, we examined the end-to-end value chain of Cooperative Societies and launched CoopHub to provide solutions that address the pains and headaches in the cooperative society experience for both the leaders of these communities and their members,” stated Moruf Oseni.

He further highlighted the comprehensive nature of CoopHub, stating, “CoopHub is the future of cooperative societies and we have designed every detail to address the needs of every player in the cooperative society ecosystem and empower these communities for optimal productivity.”

Solomon Ayodele, Wema Bank’s Head of Innovation, elaborated on the transformative features of CoopHub, emphasizing its ability to eliminate conflicts, stressful physical meetings, mistrust, inadequate capital, poor recordkeeping, and inefficient governance.

Ayodele outlined key functionalities of CoopHub, including a digitized database for all records, a dedicated user management section for efficient member management, transparent overviews of contributions, seamless communication frameworks, and robust security measures.

“To promote community and financial security, CoopHub also offers a three-factor authentication system that ensures every withdrawal from the cooperative society’s account is subject to the approval of three of its members, including the administrator,” Ayodele added.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that with over 30 million Nigerians belonging to cooperative societies, as reported by the National Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria in 2023, the launch of CoopHub signifies a significant step towards enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and overall effectiveness of these communities.

Ayodele encouraged all cooperative societies to embrace CoopHub and experience the future of cooperative societies firsthand.
