Ace broadcaster and events compere, Wole Sorunke, fondly called “M. C. Murphý” has literarily let the cat out of the bag on why he left the Fresh FM, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Murphy, who hitherto ran two popular programmes on the popular radio spoke during a monitored Yoruba radio programme on Splash FM last Friday.
According to the multi-talented broadcaster, he quit the Yinka Ayefele owned radio after the authorities of the radio removed the two programmes.
The controversial broadcaster, who is currently resident in London said he was not sacked from the radio as was being speculated.
Although he claimed that he was not fairly treated by the radio, he voluntarily quit the radio station after his programmes were removed.
While laying claims to the foundation of the radio in the gateway capital, Murphy said he did nothing wrong for the programmes to have been so removed.
“Through my two popular programmes, I have done my best to project the image of the radio to people within and outside Nigeria, hence I did not deserve this kind of a treatment”
“When we talk about Fresh FM, I am surprised by the action of the proprietor of Fresh FM, I am really surprised because I was instrumental to the establishment of the radio, he knows that.
“I wish I meet face-to-face with Ayefele to tell the whole world why he removed my two popular programmes on his radio station.
Asking rhetorically, the Egba-born numero-uno master of ceremony said: “was he not aware that I was leaving for London?. Before I departed Nigeria, was his (Ayefele) GM not aware?. Was the GM of Fresh FM Nigeria not aware?. Did I not notify him through a letter that I was leaving?
“On arrival at the London airport I sent him a text message but he never bothered to reply me. I felt terribly bad just as I wondered the kind of person I was working with”.
Reacting to the rumour milling round that he was sacked from the radio station, Murphy said: ” there is no iota of truth in the rumour milling round that I was sacked from the radio station”.
“What happened was that Ayefele removed my two programmes from his radio station and I left. Despite this ugly development, he still remains my friend”, he concluded.
