Wife, Mother of Notorious Bandits’ Kingpin, Ado Aliero, Arrested In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabian authorities have arrested two women believed to be the wife and mother of one of Nigeria’s most wanted bandit kingpins, Ado Aliero.

The duo was reportedly apprehended in an intelligence-led operation carried out in the holy city of Medina, where they had been living under false identities.

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the arrest in a short video posted on May 18.

According to Makama, sources familiar with the investigation confirmed that the operation was part of a broader effort to dismantle a network of fugitives with links to violent insurgent activities in Nigeria’s North-West region.

Aliero, who has been a central figure in a series of mass abductions and brutal attacks across Zamfara and neighbouring states, has remained a fugitive despite being on the Nigerian government’s most wanted list for years.

The latest arrest marks a significant development in the transnational efforts to curb the influence and mobility of criminal networks associated with terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.

As of the time of filing this report, Saudi authorities had not issued an official statement on the development, while Nigerian security agencies are yet to confirm whether extradition processes will follow.

Ado Aliero’s capture remains a priority for Nigeria’s law enforcement, as his operations have contributed to the widespread insecurity and displacement of communities in the North-West zone.
