Wife of Binance Executive Appeals For Release Amid Money Laundering Charges

The wife of Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria on money laundering charges,Mrs. Yuki Gambaryan,  has called upon both the United States and Nigerian governments to intervene and secure her husband’s release.

Gambaryan maintains his innocence amidst the allegations brought forth by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The ordeal began when the Federal High Court in Abuja remanded Tigran Gambaryan to the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his bail application, after pleading not guilty to the charges.

His colleague, Nadeem Anjarwalla, also implicated, managed to evade custody.

Expressing disbelief and anguish, Yuki Gambaryan highlighted her husband’s dedication to law enforcement and justice, emphasizing his past contributions to Nigeria.

Despite his efforts in assisting the EFCC, Tigran finds himself confined in a facility meant for terrorists and murderers, a situation deemed unjust by his wife.

Yuki emphasized the arbitrary nature of her husband’s detention, with no evidence provided to substantiate the accusations against him.

She further revealed the failure of authorities to provide adequate access to legal counsel and embassy officials during his confinement.

This isn’t the first legal ordeal for Tigran Gambaryan, as he faces additional charges related to tax evasion by the Federal Inland Revenue Service of Nigeria.

However, his wife stresses that Tigran, employed by Binance but not an officer of the company, traveled to Nigeria at the invitation of Nigerian authorities for discussions on law enforcement cooperation and compliance.

In her plea, Yuki implored both the American and Nigerian governments to recognize Tigran’s innocence and facilitate his prompt release.

She urged caution to international businesses operating in Nigeria, warning of potential repercussions faced by their employees.
