A housewife, Aminat Babatunde, on Tuesday, asked a Magistrate Court, sitting in Abeokuta to dissolve their 15-year-old marriage over husband’s alleged irresponsible behaviour.

Babatunde told the court that “the union has produced four children, Akeem, 13, Aishat 11, Ramon 8 and Alimot 6 .

She further told the court that her husband was a jealous person, claiming that he slapped one of her customers.

She said: “my husband rarely gives the children money for food and if he gives them N1,500 today, he will not bother until after one or two weeks.

“There was a time he came to my place with machete and tore the window net.”

She, therefore pleaded with the court to dissolve their marriage, adding that she was no longer interested and prayed that the children should be with her.

Meanwhile the respondent, Mamood Babatunde, a driver, pleaded not guilty of those charges levelled against him.

He said: “I did not tear the window net neither did I come with a machete For the sake of our children, I don’t want us to divorce.”

The court, after listening to both parties adjourned the case to July 13 for hearing.
