The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has commissioned the airport, road in Ibadan on Friday and named it as Dr. Omololu Olunloyo Airport.
Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike has asked the people of Oyo State to reciprocate the good gestures from the state governor, Seyi Makinde by voting him again during the March 11 governorship election .
Wike who spoke at the commissioning of Airport project named after the former governor of Oyo State,Dr. Omololu Olunloyo .
Wike said that the Airport project commissioned by makinde should have been done by the federal government.
He said “look at this Airport road it’s supposed to be the responsibility of the federal government. Tell the federal government to refund the state the money that has been invested here’.
”You cannot be spending state money at the same time, you are the one controlling the airport. That is the duty of the federal government but they will not perform anything. All they do at the end every month is to calculate the percentage of the funds and begins to do all kind of things”
Despite this, Wike commended Makinde for taking on the responsibility to improve the Economic situation of the state.
In his remarks, Makinde said that his projects n the state go beyond building the airport and the road.
”Our project and policies have ensured that the Oyo state Economy continues to grow. As of 2022, we have reduced the dependency by 50%, this project is significant as it takes another step towards opening up our economy to further growth’.
” I can say this is a transition project conceived as one of the project that will form the foundation for accelerated development. Completing and commissioning this project fulfil our promise to continue serving the good people of Oyo state until the last day of our tenure.
In attendance at the commissioning program were dignitaries such as the Governor of Rivers state Nyesome wike, Former Governor of Oyo state, Victor Omololu Olunloyo and others such as Royal fathers.
