In a decisive move, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has issued the revocation of 165 plots of land within the Federal Capital City’s serviced Districts.
This decision, announced on Thursday by Muhammad Hazat Sule, the Director of Information and Communication in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), stems from a persistent breach of the 1978 Land Use Act’s terms of agreement.
The affected plots, which belong to both individuals and corporate entities, have consistently failed to adhere to the stipulated terms as outlined in Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act.
These plots are strategically located in prominent areas, including the Central Business District, Maitama (A05); Maitama (A06); Wuse II (A08); Gudu (B01); Wuye (B03); Jabi (B04); Utako (B05); Katampe Extension (B19); Idu Industrial Area (C16); and Asokoro (A04) Districts.
Minister Wike’s decision to invoke his authority under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978 signifies a strong stance against non-development.
Sule, said, “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has, in the exercise of the powers conferred on him under Section 28(5)(a) & (b) of the Land Use Act 1978, revoked the affected titles for continued contravention of the terms of development of the Right of Occupancy, namely non-development.”
