A young woman, identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room located on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Johnson, who hails from Benue State, had checked into the hotel on Monday night, June 16, 2025, in the company of an unidentified man.

However, her lifeless body was discovered the following morning by hotel staff.

A hotel cleaner, who spoke under anonymity, said he became concerned when there was no response from the room during routine cleaning.

“The door was locked from the outside, and after knocking several times without any response, I alerted another staff member. We forced the door open and found the woman tied up and motionless on the bed,” the witness recounted.

According to him, the victim’s hands were tied behind her back, and her mouth was gagged with a piece of cloth.

A short video of the grim discovery was reportedly recorded by the hotel staff before the police were contacted.

Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said the woman was rushed to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim checked in with a male companion who later left the premises without her.

“The case is currently under investigation, and we are working to establish the identity and whereabouts of the suspect,” Adeh stated.

She further noted that the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Saka Adewale, has ordered a thorough investigation into the case and appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement authorities.

In a safety advisory issued on Tuesday, the police urged young women to be cautious in their dealings with strangers and to ensure they regularly share their whereabouts with trusted individuals.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at a morgue, as detectives intensify efforts to track down the fleeing suspect.
