Felix Tainta, the agent to Athletic Bilbao winger, Nico Williams, has explained why the player decided not to leave this summer.
Williams was heavily linked with several clubs during the window, including Barcelona and Arsenal.
But the Spain international opted to remain at San Mames for at least one more year.
And Tainta has now said Williams’ wishes had to be respected.
“The kid decided to stay at Athletic for one more year”.
“Our job is to work for him and give him advice, but we can’t put a gun to his head and force him to leave,” Tainta told Cadena Ser.
