A devastating terrorist attack has rocked Borno State, claiming the lives of at least 10 individuals and leaving 20 others with varying degrees of injuries .

This incident occured after a commercial bus drove over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly planted by suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

According to reports, the incident occurred along the Baga Road in the Kukawa Local Government Area of the state.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that Counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the bus was en route when it detonated the IED, believed to have been strategically placed near Mosquito Camp, a hotspot for the Nigerian Army’s Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai engaged in anti-terror operations in the region.

PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the injured victims were swiftly transported to a hospital in Monguno for urgent medical attention.

Despite efforts to obtain official statements from the state police command spokesperson, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, no response was received.

The tragic event underscores the persistent threat posed by terrorist organizations in the region and the urgent need for enhanced security measures to safeguard civilian lives.

The Nigerian Army and allied security agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to combat insurgency and protect vulnerable communities from further harm.
