I Emptied My Account To Campaign For Tinubu, Got Nothing – Asari Dokubo

Former Niger Delta militant leader and ardent supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Asari Dokubo, has expressed disillusionment with the President, vowing to shift his allegiance to the North ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The outspoken Dokubo accused Tinubu of betrayal despite his financial and personal commitment to the president’s 2023 campaign.

In a series of viral videos, Dokubo disclosed that he “emptied” his personal funds to mobilize support for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential race.

Reflecting on his efforts, Dokubo lamented that his sacrifices have gone unappreciated and declared his intentions to abandon Tinubu in favor of a new alliance with Northern stakeholders.

He shared his disappointment openly, saying, “I apologise to our fathers because they were not wrong in forming an alliance with the North, and as young men, we will now start that same alliance.”

Dokubo further claimed that Tinubu’s behavior in office contrasts sharply with the image he had during the campaign.

“The Tinubu I know now isn’t the Tinubu I used to know,” he said, expressing his sense of betrayal over what he called a broken relationship with the President.

Dokubo, a prominent Ijaw leader, criticized the Yoruba ethnic group, to which Tinubu belongs, alleging that they had not upheld their end of the relationship.

“We can’t work with Yoruba people; they are a betrayal to us. We risked our lives by voting and doing everything, and this is what we get?” he questioned, expressing a growing sentiment of distrust.
