Gunmen have abducted the Head of Legal Department at Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, Barrister Elizabeth Arinde.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ilorin Branch, disclosed this in a statement signed by its Chairman, S.M.H. Kosemani, on Saturday.
According to the association, Arinde was kidnapped on Friday while travelling from Oke Ero to Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, alongside the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the council.
“We are deeply concerned to inform you that Barrister Elizabeth Arinde, Head of the Legal Department at Oke Ero Local Government in Kwara State, has been kidnapped,” the NBA said in the statement.
The association added that all efforts to reach her had proved abortive, as her phone line had been unreachable since the incident.
“Her contact number is no more going and there is no information about her whereabouts yet,” the statement read.
The NBA Ilorin branch called on security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure her safe release, while also appealing to members of the public to disseminate the information widely and pray for her safe return.
“We will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” the association added.
Efforts to reach the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire Adetoun, for confirmation and comment were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
