The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye as the consensus candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency ahead of the next electoral cycle, in a development party stakeholders described as the outcome of extensive consultations and internal negotiations.
Adeleye’s emergence was reportedly reached through a process anchored on dialogue, reconciliation, and consensus-building among party leaders, stakeholders, and apex political figures within the constituency.
Describing the development as a collective responsibility rather than a personal victory, Adeleye said the consensus reflected the party’s commitment to unity, fairness, and internal democracy.
She expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, whom she described as a key pillar behind the process.
“I am deeply humbled and sincerely grateful. This is not a personal triumph but a collective responsibility entrusted to me by our leaders and party faithful,” she said.
She particularly commended Abiodun for what she termed his “consistency, firm belief in equity, leadership, and steady guidance” in strengthening cohesion within the APC across the state.
Adeleye also acknowledged the contributions of apex leaders in the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, party executives, and other stakeholders who participated in the negotiation process leading to her adoption.
She further extended appreciation to stakeholders who had supported her aspiration over time, noting that their “voices, conviction, and unwavering support” shaped her political journey.
In a show of political solidarity, she also commended key political figures in the constituency, including the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Asiwaju Lateef Adesina, Bashorun Olaniran Olalekan (popularly known as BOOM), and Dr. Ademola Evans (DEDEMBULA), for what she described as their maturity and sportsmanship during the process.
According to her, the consensus arrangement was not designed to exclude any stakeholder but to strengthen unity and ensure inclusive representation across all segments of the federal constituency.
“This journey has never been about exclusion, but about building consensus and ensuring that every segment of our federal constituency feels represented and respected,” she added.
Adeleye pledged to run an inclusive and people-focused representation if elected, promising to deepen engagement with constituents and consolidate party unity.
As the APC prepares for the next phase of the electoral process, she called for continued support from party leaders and stakeholders, assuring that she remains committed to humility, inclusiveness, and service to the constituency.
She concluded her remarks with a religious expression of gratitude, saying: “Alhamdulillah Robil Alamin.”
