The Allied Peoples Movement’s vice-presidential candidate, Mamman Daura, has declared that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is better positioned than former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi and other potential contenders to win the 2027 presidential election.
Daura said Makinde possessed the leadership qualities, administrative experience and national appeal required to defeat other presidential hopefuls and succeed President Bola Tinubu.
He made the declaration on Saturday while receiving leaders of the Northern Patriotic Front at the APM Presidential Campaign Headquarters in Abuja.
The APM vice-presidential candidate described Makinde as the most suitable candidate for the country’s highest political office, expressing confidence that the Oyo governor could secure victory against prominent opposition figures in the 2027 presidential contest.
According to him, Makinde’s record in office, youthful disposition and political acceptance across the northern and southern regions of the country give him an advantage over other contenders.
Daura said, “Makinde can beat Atiku, Peter Obi and any other candidates for the presidential race.”
He argued that the governor’s performance in Oyo State and his perceived ability to connect with Nigerians across regional divides made him a formidable contender in the forthcoming election.
The endorsement comes amid growing political realignments and manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and presidential aspirants intensifying efforts to build nationwide support.
However, whether Makinde’s alleged nationwide appeal and performance in Oyo State would translate into electoral support across Nigeria remains a major question as the 2027 presidential contest gathe⁴⁴rs momentum.
