2027 Presidency: North’ll Unveil Position In Six Months – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed

Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that the North will publicly announce its political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections within the next six months.

Baba-Ahmed, a prominent figure in the Northern Elders Forum, made the disclosure in a viral video circulating on social media, where he warned of potential political consequences if the grievances of the North continue to be ignored.

“The North will stand to defend herself, I swear to God,” he said, urging northerners to remain united and avoid internal divisions. “The North should be very careful and avoid traitor politicians and also avoid what might divide them.”

Drawing on memories of the region’s challenges during the Boko Haram insurgency, Baba-Ahmed recalled how both mosques and churches were targeted during the campaign period of former President Muhammadu Buhari in a bid to destabilise the North.

He emphasised the need for unity among northern ethnic and religious groups, including Muslims, Christians, Fulani, Baju, and Mangu, warning against leaders who seek to exploit divisions for personal gain.

“You understand now, no politician will come and say, ‘Where are the Northerners, follow me?’ Who are you?” he said, questioning the credibility of political figures seeking northern support.

According to Baba-Ahmed, the North has become more politically conscious following the eight-year administration of Buhari and the current economic and security hardships under President Bola Tinubu.

“By God’s grace, in the next six months, the North will come out and tell their next direction,” he declared.

“It’s left for the remaining Nigerians—either they follow us, or we go alone. We know nobody will become president without the North.”

He issued a stern warning ahead of the 2027 elections, cautioning that any attempt to subvert the electoral process could endanger the country’s unity.

“Conducting a bad election in 2027 may lead to the end of Nigeria, I swear to God,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed also noted that consultations were ongoing among northern stakeholders, and a decisive announcement on the region’s political position would soon be made.

“There will be a time we will come out and say it’s okay—and it’s soon. This injustice is over. We know who we are,” he added.
