    3 out of 4 abducted victims rescued in Kogi community

    The police authorities, in a joint operation with vigilantes, reportedly rescued three out of four persons kidnapped along Itobe -Ajegwu -Idah road in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

    The incident happened around 11:45pm on Saturday at Igolijo junction on the said road when the car the victims were traveling in was intercepted by gun welding hoodlums.

    One Jeremiah Shekari (M) of Kaura LGA in Kaduna State, Charity Omale (F) of Ojuwo Ocha, Ofu LGA in Kogi State and one other person, whose identity is yet to be established, were rescued in the operation.

    The fourth person, who was identified as Adah Ali, said to be from Ajegwu in OfU LGA of Kogi State, is still being held by the kidnappers in their hideout.

    According to some vigilantes, who took part in the operation, the joint operation team of the Nigeria Police Force, Itobe division and the vigilantes stormed the Eyele forest Along Idah road when they got wind of the incident. “In the process, we were able to rescue three persons , two males and one female from their abductors at the early hours of Sunday in a shootout which lasted for hours. “We are still combing the forest to arrest the kidnappers, and rescue the fourth person, who is still being held by his abductors,” said one of the vigilantes, who craved anonymity.

    The state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP William Aya, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him on the incident.
