Febe Falodun

According to a statement by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the terrorist kingpins Ali Dawud, Mallam Ari, and Bakurah Fallujah, along with their fighters, were successfully neutralized on April 13. The operation took place at the hideouts of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Kolleram village near Lake Chad.

In addition to eliminating the terrorist leaders and their fighters, the air strikes led to the destruction of numerous vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets belonging to the terrorists, as confirmed by Gabkwet.

He said: “Intelligence gathered after the air strike further indicated that the aerial bombardment effectively obliterated a key facility within the Kolleram enclave, which served as a hub for the terrorists’ food processing activities, including grinding machines.”

According to Gabkwet, the destruction of the terrorists’ logistics has dealt a severe blow to their operational capabilities. The strikes have significantly hindered their ability to carry out their activities.

He said: “The success of these airstrikes underscores NAF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens.

“By neutralizing key terrorist figures and destroying their logistical infrastructure, the operation has significantly degraded the capabilities of the ISWAP group in the region.
“These airstrikes complement the ongoing efforts of ground forces in the Lake Chad flank and represent a crucial step forward in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.”
