The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adeniyi, has been selected as the recipient of the highly esteemed “PR Icon Award” for 2024 by the Board of PR Primus Limited.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the award recognises Adeniyi’s exceptional contributions to the field of public relations and his outstanding professional achievements.
Announcing the award, the CEO of PR Primus Limited, Mr. Akin Okudero, praised Adeniyi as a consummate professional and an influential figure in the public relations industry.
He highlighted the Comptroller-General’s extensive experience, which has not only elevated the image of the Nigeria Customs Service but also brought significant prestige to the public relations profession.
“His track record as a former Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Governing Council, along with his receipt of numerous global leadership awards, made him a standout choice for this year’s honour,” Okudero stated.
“PR Primus Limited is privileged to name him the winner of the PR Icon Award.”
Adeniyi’s appointment as Comptroller-General in 2023 marked a historic achievement, as he became the first member of the NIPR to hold the top customs position in Nigeria.
His career with the Nigeria Customs Service began in 1990, following his graduation from Obafemi Awolowo University.
He later earned a Master’s degree in Communication Science from USI, Lugano, Switzerland.
Over the years, Adeniyi served as the Customs Public Relations Officer from 2001 to December 2016, distinguishing himself with dedication and professionalism.
The award will be presented at the 10th edition of the Annual Lecture and Your Image Award ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Abeokuta.
The event will celebrate Adeniyi’s remarkable career, which has seen him rise through the ranks to become one of the foremost figures in Nigeria’s public relations landscape.
