France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or award, have released a statement denying that any player or club knows this year’s winner.
This follows heavy speculation on social media that Rodri (Manchester City) will win it ahead of Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid).
Vinicius was widely expected to take it home ahead of Rodri.
It is now believed no Real Madrid representatives will be at Monday’s night event because of this turn of events.
However, in a statement, the organizers insisted: “No player and no club knows the winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or yet.”
The ceremony to crown this year’s winner will begin at 8pm.
