Governor Agbu Kefas has announced a new policy requiring all tertiary institutions spread across the state to hold convocations on an annual basis.

The directive, according to him, is aimed at promoting timely graduation ceremonies and reinforcing academic standards.

The governor who gave the directives at the combined convocation ceremony of the College of Education, Zing, during the weekend, underscored the state government’s commitment to advancing higher education and ensuring that institutions adhere to regular academic schedules.

Governor Kefas emphasized that the move would foster a culture of consistency and celebration of academic achievement across Taraba’s institutions.

The policy, according to him, is expected to enhance the student experience by providing graduates with timely recognition of their accomplishments.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment to an educational reforms agenda that seeks to build a future where quality education is accessible, and affordable, he emphasized that true wealth encompasses more than the state’s natural resources and economic growth potential. Adding that, it also resides in the intellectual and creative talents of its people.

The governor who was of the view that, education remains the cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda, said such belief necessitated his decision to declared free and compulsory education in primary and secondary schools throughout the state

Remarking that the convocation ceremony demonstrates the transformative power of Education, his administration, he said, will not cease
from upholding the principles of fairness, prevent sabotage, and prioritize merit-based decision-making over political agendas.

While commending the college’s leadership for their unrelenting pursuit of educational excellence, he highlighted the role of education in empowering youth and fostering a community centered on growth, inclusivity, and integrity.

On his part, the Provost of the College, Professor Ejika Sambo, who announced that about 19,700 graduans bagged NCE, applauded the governor for his historic attendance at the ceremony,

Underscoring the college’s significance in achieving the governor’s free education initiative, he urged the graduands to strive hard to make positive difference in the lives of others, beyond mere personal attainment.
