The Lagos State Police Command has successfully rescued six children from an abandoned building in Ejigbo, Lagos State.

Acting swiftly upon receiving a distress call around noon on Tuesday, the police responded to reports that children, aged between 7 to 13 years old, were left unattended in the residential structure.

Confirming the operation, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, disclosed that the case was immediately escalated to the Gender Unit at Ikeja Police Headquarters.

“Upon receiving reports of minors being left alone in a residential house, the Ejigbo Police Station swiftly transferred the case to the Gender Unit in Ikeja,” CSP Hundeyin stated.

The children were promptly rescued from the precarious situation and relocated to a secure shelter under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development. CSP Hundeyin assured that the authorities are actively pursuing leads to contact the children’s mother, who is reportedly abroad for medical treatment.

“Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances leading to the children being left alone and to facilitate their reunion with their caregiver,” Hundeyin added.

This development underscores the Lagos State Police Command’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable members of the community and ensuring their well-being.

The Ministry of Youth and Social Development continues to provide necessary care and support to the rescued children pending further directives from the authorities.

The Lagos State Police Command urges anyone with relevant information regarding the case to come forward and assist with ongoing investigations.
