Two non-governmental organisations, Global Vision Support International and Springtime Development Foundation, are set to provide a free medical outreach programme in Osun State, offering critical healthcare services to residents in need.
The initiative, scheduled for April 13th to 17th, 2025, aligns with Global Vision Support International’s ongoing mission to enhance healthcare accessibility for underserved communities.
Since its inception in 2017, the organisation has conducted 140 medical outreach programs, treating over 150,000 patients across Nigeria and performing over 2,000 surgeries, including eye, fibroid, hernia, and lump removal procedures.
Speaking on the forthcoming outreach, the President of Global Vision Support International, Professor John Sotunsa, revealed that the programme will kick off on April 13th in Inisha town before moving to Ede Town Hall from April 14th to 17th.
Professor Sotunsa, who also serves as the Provost of the Benjamin Carson College of Health and Medical Sciences at Babcock University, stated that the initiative aims to provide free consultations and treatments for 2,000 individuals.
He added that 1,200 persons will receive free glasses, while 50 fibroid surgeries, 100 hernia repairs and lump removals, and 50 cataract surgeries will be performed.
He stated that the outreach will also offer dental services to 100 individuals.
He urged those in need of medical attention to visit the designated centres on the specified dates, emphasizing that surgeries will require participants to present laboratory test results, and blood will be supplied by participants if necessary.
“The treatment will, however, be on a first-come, first-served basis,” he noted, encouraging early participation”, he said .
