    Tinubu seeks Reps’ approval for N1.48tn Rivers budget

    President Bola Tinubu has written to the House of Representatives seeking the consideration and approval of N1.48 trillion appropriation bill for Rivers State.

    The president’s letter was read at Thursday’s plenary by the Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen.

    Tinubu in the letter explained that when approved, the funds will be used by the Emergency Rule Government of Rivers State under its Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), to provide for education, agriculture, provision of free drugs, among others.

    Among provisions in the proposed budget include ₦166 billion for health, ₦75.6 billion for education, ₦31.4 billion for agriculture and ₦5 billion for free drug distribution to all categories of people in the state, among others.

    The Speaker after reading the letter, referred the budget proposal to the House Ad-hoc committee in charge of the oversight of the Emergency Rule in Rivers State for further review and report back promptly.
