In a grand celebration held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Ake, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun’s 65th birthday was marked with glowing tributes from some of Nigeria’s foremost leaders.

The event, which also commemorated the governor’s six years in office and the successful conclusion of the National Sports Festival hosted by Ogun State, attracted top political figures, traditional rulers, and diplomats.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, delivered a moving presidential tribute that hailed Governor Abiodun’s leadership as transformative and visionary.

He highlighted Abiodun’s strides in infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment, food security, and investment attraction, praising his transparent and inclusive governance style.

Tinubu also commended his efforts as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum in fostering regional unity.

Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo described the governor as a determined leader committed to inclusive development, while former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba acknowledged the progress in road rehabilitation and essential public services under Abiodun’s administration.

Adding a diplomatic perspective, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, extolled the governor’s compassionate and visionary leadership.

He remarked, “Your leadership is etched in resilience, purpose, and humility. You have not just governed, Your Excellency; you have inspired.”

Traditional rulers also took turns to celebrate the governor’s achievements. The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Akarigbo of Remoland,

Oba Babatunde Ajayi, and the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, each praised Abiodun’s commitment to the welfare of the people and support for traditional institutions.

Governor Abiodun, visibly moved, reflected on his administration’s journey since 2019, describing it as one marked by divine guidance and significant progress across all sectors. “The rain is gone,” he declared. “God has made my vision a testimony.”

The celebratory service was enriched by a sermon from Rt. Rev. Samuel Ogundeji, Bishop of Egba Anglican Diocese, who urged the governor to remain steadfast in service and leadership, citing Psalm 124 to emphasize gratitude and vigilance.

The event closed on a note of unity and hope, with guests affirming that Governor Abiodun’s leadership continues to inspire and impact Ogun State positively.
