Wike’s Aide Faults Opposition Coalition, Says Leaders’ Children In APC, PDP

The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has criticised the newly formed opposition coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying it lacks sincerity.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Olayinka said the children of key figures behind the coalition are members of the two main political parties they claim to oppose — the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He claimed that the daughter of ADC’s interim chairman and former Senate President, David Mark, is a member of the House of Representatives under the APC.

Olayinka also alleged that a son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a commissioner in the PDP-led Adamawa State government, while another son is a major contractor in the state.

He added that the son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is also a federal lawmaker on the APC platform.

“Meanwhile, people are shouting ‘coalition’ on social media. You will have sense eventually,” he wrote mockingly.

Olayinka’s comments come amid growing public interest in the opposition coalition, which some Nigerians hope will challenge the dominance of the APC and PDP in the 2027 elections.

However, the aide argued that the coalition cannot be trusted, accusing its promoters of playing double roles in Nigeria’s political space.

PLATFORM TIMES reports that the coalition has recently gained online traction, with many Nigerians expressing hope for a new political direction.
