It was a gathering of political leaders, judicial officers, top government functionaries, and community stakeholders on Sunday as eminent personalities converged in Abeokuta to celebrate Justice Jumoke Adewole, following her elevation to the Ogun State High Court.
Justice Adewole, who until recently served as Permanent Secretary in the state civil service, was described as a “consummate public servant” whose career has been defined by diligence, empathy, and uncompromising integrity.
At the special reception held in her honour, tributes poured in from the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya; Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye; and Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje, among other dignitaries.
They lauded Adewole’s transition from the Bar to the Bench as a deserving elevation, noting that she distinguished herself during her years of service in the State Ministry of Justice and later in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
In her remarks, Adeleye described the new High Court judge as a loyal team player who demonstrated unwavering commitment to the ethics of public service.
She stressed that Adewole’s tenure as Permanent Secretary was marked by “excellence, adherence to the rule of law, and service delivery without blemish.”
Similarly, Justice Mabekoje expressed confidence that Adewole would carry her track record of fairness, dedication, and wisdom into her new role, adding that her presence on the Bench would strengthen the Ogun State Judiciary.
Responding to the outpouring of goodwill, Justice Adewole expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, colleagues, mentors, and family members who supported her journey in public service.
She pledged to uphold the principles of fairness, justice, and equity in her new assignment.
“I am deeply humbled by the honour done to me today. Your kind words will inspire me to greater diligence in the discharge of my judicial duties,” she said.
The reception drew members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, judges, the body of Permanent Secretaries, market women leaders, and other well-wishers across various sectors, who described the celebration as a befitting recognition of Adewole’s outstanding contributions to the state.
