Christian leaders, traditional rulers and top government officials on Sunday charged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to demonstrate love, humility and service to humanity, as Victory Life Bible Church (VLBC) hosted its 2025 Christmas Carol tagged “Christmas on the Rock.”
The colourful carol service, themed “The Manger and Its Majesty,” brought together worship, culture, drama and music, drawing dignitaries and families who filled the auditorium with praise, dance and reflection on the essence of Christmas.
The event opened with “Caroliganza,” a rich cultural ensemble that blended fashion, gastronomy and entertainment. Children, dressed in vibrant outfits, enjoyed a 360-degree photo session, bouncing castles, painting corners and lively music by DJ O Mighty, while districts of the church thrilled guests with parades that drew loud applause.
Comedian and compere, James Edafe, kept the audience entertained with humour, as children participated in games, including table tennis, before Santa Claus capped the first session by distributing gifts, drawing excitement and gratitude from the youngsters.
The carol service proper featured Bible readings from Luke, Matthew, Micah and John, read by eminent personalities, including Professor Folu Eniolorunda, Mrs Oluremi Olugbenro, General Manager of Paramount FM, Abeokuta, Mr Wole Elusakin, Professor Sola Arulogun, Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, and Mr Kehinde Onasanya, Ogun State Head of Service.
In prayers, Reverend Adeoye Adeyanju declared peace over Nigeria and Ogun State, praying for leaders and prosperity across all sectors.
Delivering the homily titled “The Manger and His Majesty,” the President of Victory Life Bible Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, urged Christians to learn from the humility of Jesus Christ, stressing that one’s background does not define destiny.
“A manger was a feeding place for animals, yet from that humble beginning, God gave Jesus a name above all names,” Achudume said. “Where a child is born does not determine his destiny. What matters is purpose and obedience.”
Quoting Philippians 2:1–8, the cleric challenged believers to live lives of service and compassion. “Do not let your neighbour sleep hungry. Service and humility are pathways to true majesty,” he said, adding that lifting others does not diminish one’s own light.
He further urged Nigerians to seize every opportunity to serve humanity, praying that the spirit of love and generosity would define the season.
Also speaking, the Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, thanked Apostle Achudume for the invitation, describing the carol atmosphere as nostalgic.
He said the birth and life of Jesus Christ were filled with miracles and urged Nigerians to uphold love, equity and fairness.
“Ask yourself: are you a leader or merely a boss?” the monarch asked, urging those in authority to lead with compassion.
The service featured powerful musical ministrations by the Rock Foundation Church choristers, Jubilee Voices, Priceless, and the VLBC Choir, alongside a drama sketch that underscored evangelism and the true meaning of Christmas. The all-male choir of the Cathedral Church of Christ, Ake, also stirred the audience with the Hallelujah Chorus.
The night ended on a reflective note as the congregation joined the choir to sing the evergreen hymn “Silent Night,” with phone lights illuminating the darkened auditorium in a spectacle likened to a sky full of stars.
Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Elder Akin Okudero, expressed appreciation to guests and participants, while Apostle Achudume pronounced the grace and valediction.
Dignitaries at the event included the Olowu of Owu, the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University and other eminent personalities.
The carol service concluded with attendees departing in high spirits, looking forward to the 2026 edition, as organisers declared, “Glory to God in the highest.”
