The immediate past Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Prof. Musa Olomu, has denied any involvement in recent media reports concerning developments at the hospital, describing claims linking him to the publication as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by his media office on Tuesday, Olomu said he had no knowledge of, nor played any role in the authorship, sponsorship or circulation of the report, stressing that any suggestion to the contrary was incorrect.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Prof. Musa Olomu had no involvement whatsoever in the said publication or any related reports,” the statement read.
Olomu noted that he completed his tenure at the FMC in line with the terms of his appointment and has since returned to his academic duties as a Lecturer of Medicine at the University of Ilorin, where he is currently engaged in teaching and research.
He also disclosed that he had been cleared by relevant oversight and investigative agencies of any wrongdoing during his time as Medical Director, adding that no competent authority had found him culpable in the discharge of his duties.
The former MD said his administration at FMC Abeokuta was marked by infrastructural expansion, improved service delivery and increased institutional visibility, achievements he described as verifiable and widely acknowledged within and outside the hospital.
Olomu appealed to stakeholders and the public to allow him focus on his academic career and future contributions to medical education without being drawn into unnecessary controversies.
He expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Health, staff of FMC Abeokuta and the general public for the opportunity to serve, while wishing the Centre continued progress under its current leadership.
The statement said the clarification was issued to prevent misinformation and reaffirm Olomu’s commitment to professionalism, peace and the advancement of healthcare and medical education in Nigeria.
