The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reaffirmed its commitment to market stability and uninterrupted nationwide supply of Premium Motor Spirit, assuring Nigerians of continued energy security despite recent price adjustments.
The refinery said it had implemented a deliberate and temporary price support intervention during the recent festive season to cushion the impact of heightened household spending, marking the second consecutive festive period it absorbed significant costs in the national interest.
In a statement sent to PLATFORM TIMES on Wednesday, the company noted that it provided logistics support in 2024 and effected a price reduction in 2025 to promote affordability and calm in the downstream market, but regretted that many filling stations failed to reflect the new prices at the pump, thereby denying consumers the intended benefits.
With the festive season over, the refinery said PMS prices had been modestly realigned to sustainable levels to support long-term affordability and market stability. Under the current pricing structure, the gantry price stands at N799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets sell at N839 per litre.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the facility currently supplies about 50 million litres of PMS daily to the domestic market, adding that nationwide evacuation and distribution were operating smoothly.
Bird explained that the refinery’s design flexibility enables it to process a wide range of crude oil and intermediate feedstocks, ensuring uninterrupted supply even during planned maintenance activities.
“As a domestic producer, the refinery continues to shield Nigeria from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while serving as a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector,” he said.

He added that the refinery remained focused on delivering energy security, price stability and long-term value to Nigerians, while supporting government efforts to strengthen local refining capacity and reduce dependence on fuel imports.
