The Nasarawa State Government has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of the Head of Operations, State Operations Coordinating Unit, Yakubu Akuki Ogalebe, who reportedly slumped in his office in Lafia.
Ogalebe, a former Sole Administrator of the Agwada Area Administrative Council, was said to have died on Friday afternoon, March 27, 2026, after collapsing while on duty.
Sources within the state civil service told PLATFORM TIMES that the incident caused panic among colleagues, who immediately rushed to his aid.
Despite efforts to revive him, he was confirmed dead shortly afterwards.
His sudden death has sparked shock across the state’s public service, particularly among officials familiar with his active role in coordinating government programmes.
Until his demise, Ogalebe served as Head of Operations at the State Operations Coordinating Unit, a key agency established in 2016 to manage the development of the Single Social Register for poor and vulnerable households.
The register serves as a critical tool for the implementation of social intervention programmes and targeted welfare distribution across the state.
Colleagues and associates have since paid tribute to the late official, describing him as a dedicated public servant who contributed significantly to grassroots governance and social development initiatives.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nasarawa State Government had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
