The Ogun State chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern has called for swift justice following the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl in Mowe area of the state, warning against any attempt to suppress the case.

In a statement issued on Monday by the
Chairman, Ustaadh Tajudeer Also and Secretary, Ambassador Rasheed Damilare, the group described the act as “a deliberate and calculated crime,”stressing that rape must never be trivialisedor excused under any circumstance.
According to the organisation, the suspect allegedly waylaid the victim on a desertedstreet, gagged her, and dragged her into anuncompleted building where the assault tookplace.
MURIC expressed concern over reports thatsome influential individuals had allegedlyapproached the victim’s family in a bid tosettle the matter out of court, questioning thefamily’s capacity to pursue justice.
The group warned that any cover up the case will be resisted, adding that it was not a mistake.
The group expressed concern over alleged moves by some influential persons to interfere with the case,claiming that attempts had been made to pressures the victim’s family into silence.
“It is disturbing that certain individuals havereportedly visited the family,questioning theirfinancial capacity to pursue justice andsubtly pushing for the matter to be buried,”the group said.
“Justice is not a commodity for sale.
Protecting the victim is noble, but defendingthe rapist is a crime against humanity.”
MURIC called on residents and stakeholdersto speak out against injustice,warning thatsilence could embolden perpetrators andendanger other children.
“This 11-year-old child is currently navigating a labyrinth of psychological trauma and emotional distress. This is a wound that scars a lifetime. We refuse to stand by while her future is traded for the personal interests of the powerful.
“MURIC Ogun State lauds the Nigeria Police, Mowe Division, for their initial investigation and the subsequent transfer of the case to the Gender-Based Violence Unit at the Police Area Command, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.
“We are encouraged that this unit is currently led by an officer who is also a mother. We believe her maternal instincts and professional integrity will ensure this case is not swept under the carpet.
“Under the laws of man and the commands of Allah, Michael must face the full weight of the law.
“We use this medium to make a special appeal to the Ogun State Government: Cases of rape and child abuse deserve Special Courts.
“The current system allows many oppressors to walk free while their victims live in a prison of fear. Special courts will ensure these cases are handled with the urgency and sensitivity they require.
“As we withdraw our fingers from the keyboard, we urge the Muslim community and all stakeholders to remain calm but vigilant. All hands are on deck.
“Justice may delay, but the cries of the oppressed must never go unheard. Every rapist is an enemy of humanity, and they must be stopped.”
