Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has relieved all political aides serving in his administration of their appointments as part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at injecting fresh energy into governance and creating opportunities for more members of the ruling party.
The affected officials include all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, the Deputy Chief of Staff, and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.
The development was announced on Monday in a statement issued by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mashood Agboola, who described the exercise as a minor cabinet shake-up.
According to the statement, the decision was taken to reposition the administration and broaden political participation within the ruling party.
It read, “Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved a minor cabinet shake-up involving all Special Advisers, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, and Special Assistants.”
The statement added that the exercise also affects the Deputy Chief of Staff and the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor.
Explaining the rationale behind the decision, the government said the reshuffle was intended to create opportunities for more party members while bringing renewed energy into the administration.
The governor expressed appreciation to the affected appointees for their contributions to the development of the state during their time in office.
He also wished them success in their future endeavours.
The statement further directed all affected officials to hand over all government property in their possession to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government immediately.
