The Association of Nigerian Authors, Ogun State Chapter, in collaboration with the Reproduction Rights Society of Nigeria and the Nigerian Copyright Commission, will hold a one-day capacity-building workshop for writers, publishers and other creative professionals in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, will take place at the Palace of the Olowu of Owu, Oke Ago-Owu, Abeokuta, beginning at 10am.
The programme is aimed at equipping practitioners in the creative industry with practical knowledge and strategies to protect their intellectual property, maximise the economic value of their works and take advantage of available opportunities within the creative sector.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the ANA, Ogun State Chapter, Chief Abiodun Lasile, said the workshop was being powered by the NCC and REPRONIG.
Lasile urged writers, publishers and other creatives in and around Ogun State to participate in the programme, describing it as an opportunity to acquire relevant knowledge that could improve their professional practice and earnings.
He said participants would be exposed to strategies for accessing royalties accruing from their published works, protecting their intellectual property and identifying grants and fellowship opportunities.
The ANA chairman noted that the workshop would also provide participants with a better understanding of the mechanisms available to creators to safeguard their works and derive sustainable financial benefits from their intellectual property.
The organisers are expected to draw participants from different segments of Ogun’s creative community, including authors, publishers and other practitioners whose works are covered by copyright.
The Olowu of Owu, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, is expected to serve as the Royal Father of the Day, while the Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Chief Sesan Fagbayi, is billed as the Special Guest.
The organisers urged interested participants to attend the workshop and take advantage of the sessions to strengthen their knowledge, protect their creative works and explore opportunities for greater professional and financial returns.
