The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has urged Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant following the confirmation of an Ebola Virus Disease case in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Council also called on the Federal and state governments to intensify disease surveillance, contact tracing and public enlightenment to prevent further spread of the potentially deadly infection.
The NSCIA, under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, said the confirmation of the case required collective responsibility, strict adherence to public health guidelines and cooperation with relevant authorities.
The council made the appeal in a public health advisory dated October 21, 2026, and signed by its Secretary-General, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.
