    Ogun Police Clamps down On Cultists, Arrests Ten

    The Ogun State Police Command has arrested ten members of the dreaded Eiye confraternity who have been terrorizing Shagamu and its environments in recent times.

    PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the arrest was made on Saturday, 6th of May 2023, by the anti-cultists unit of the Command.

    The suspects includes,Adekoya Adesina, Ayinde Olumide, Adebayo Jamiu, Ajayi Temitope, Taiwo Olatunji, Oladapo Ayeye, Johnson Adeyemi, Tunde Banjo, Gbenga Morufu, and Tunde Adenuga.

    According to the Police Public Relation Officer SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said,“the suspects were apprehended following information received by the anti-cultists team that a group of cultists were converging at different locations in Odogbolu with the intention of unleashing terror in Shagamu”,

    “The anti-cultists team mobilized and moved to the area on sighting the policemen, the hoodlums attacked them with dangerous weapons but they were subdued by the policemen”.

    The Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, has ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the group, and vowed to make the state unconducive for cultists and other criminals.

    He stated that the Command is ready to take the battle to their doorsteps.

    PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the 2i/c of the anti-cultists unit, SP Morakinyo Adejumo, was seriously injured during the operation and has been rushed to the hospital where he is responding to treatment.

    Items recovered from the suspects include eight live cartridges and a large quantity of weed suspected to be Indian hemp.

    The police command has also urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
