Owa Model primary, in Ika North East local government area of Delta state, has won the 2nd edition of the 2023 zenith Bank Delta Headmaster interschool football cup tournament.
The football competition took place at the Stephen keshi international stadium, in Asaba.
Owa Model primary school, Ika North East, defeated their arrival school, Ogdegbe primary school, Warri in a penalty shot after playing a 3-3 draw 90 min.
The football competition, full of excitement, was partnered between Delta state government and zenith bank.
Earlier, the commissioner for primary education in the Ministry of basic and secondary education, Chief Sunday Onoriode noted that the tournament was sponsored by Zenith Bank and the state government to foster the development of grass root sports in Delta state.
He added that the zenith Bank Delta Headmaster Cup is organized to discover talented children in the game of football and nurture them to play in the under-17 games.
He disclosed that the administration of Sen (Dr.) Okowa has spent about eight years promoting sports activities and creating a master plan for the development of grass root sports.
He added that the ministry has left no stone unturned in ensuring that the zenith bank headmasters Cup football tournament meets the expectation of the sponsor and other stakeholders in the field of football.
The winner of the competition gets 18 setter bus and one million Naira (N100000), and second position seven hundred and fifty thousand (750000).
